Feb 2, 2010 · Ash Ra Tempel was a German progressive rock band formed in Berlin, Germany, in 1970. Ash Ra Tempel was linked to the Krautrock music scene. The group was originally founded by the guitarist Manuel Gottsching, the percussionist and drummer Klaus Schulze and the bassist Hartmut Enke.
Ash Ra Tempel went to Hamburg in March 1971 to record their debut, with the aid of top engineer Conny Plank. A Krautrock twist on the space-rock music as pioneered by Pink Floyd and Hawkwind, with elements of both yet devoid of songs.
When the late 1960’s exploded and the first rays of the new age dawned on the horizon, Manuel and his mates, Hartmut Enke bass and Klaus Schulze drums, transformed into Ash Ra Tempel and burst onto the German scene like the blazing solar fire of a cosmic comet.
