Adriel (Hebrew: עדריאל) (Aramaic: ܥܕܪܝܐܝܠ) (literally עדר (flock) י (of) אל (El)) was a person mentioned in the Bible. Adriel was a nobleman in the ancient kingdom of Israel. The name Adriel is translated from the Hebrew word עַדְרִיאֵל (ad-ree-ale'), which means "flock of God".
Adriel. A son of Barzillai, married Merab, daughter of Saul, who had been promised to David, 1 Samuel 18:19. Adriel had five sons by her, who were delivered up to the Gibeonites, to be put to death before the Lord, to avenge the cruelty of Saul their grandfather against the Gibeonites.
Adriel is described in the Old Testament as the son of Barzillai, a reference found in 2 Samuel 21:8. This connection links him to a prominent family, as Barzillai is known for his loyalty and generosity during King David’s time.
