Apr 8, 2023 · The original SCP-173 post is a 2007 4chan post written by Moto42 that inspired the fictional SCP Foundation as well as led to the creation of the SCP Wiki, a popular containment fiction writing community. The post was made on June 22nd, 2007, and deleted a few days later.
The original SCP-173 post in 2007 used an image of the sculpture Untitled 2004 by the artist Izumi Kato, which was photographed by Keisuke Yamamoto. The creator of the post, Wesley "Moto42" Williams, did not have the rights to either the sculpture, nor the photograph that depicted it.
