Commendation award. A local award that can be used by certain Lead Volunteers/Commissioners to recognise individuals (youth members, adult members or non-members) for their contribution to the Scouts. Find out more on giving this award.

- Membership Award. When you make your Scout promise, you'll be given your Membership Award. It features a picture of the fleur de lis - an international symbol, worn by Scouts all over the world.
- Joining In Award. Joining In Awards are given to those who always roll up their sleeves and get stuck in. You can collect one for every year you're a Scout, starting from your very first day as a Beaver right up until your last meeting.
- Leadership stripes. Within their Troop, Scouts are part of a Patrol. A Patrol is a smaller group of Scouts, headed up by a Patrol Leader and an Assistant Patrol Leader.

In order to maintain a uniform National standard the Awards Board on behalf of the Chief Scout administers the rules. The information provided on the application form must give a real indication of the individuals’ extra special contribution to Scouting.
The awards for recognition are: The Chief Scout’s Commendation for Good Service – given in respect of not less than 5 years’ good service. Award for Merit – given for outstanding service of not less than 12 years (10 years exceptionally).
Awards are available for all adults in Scouting, whether Leaders, Managers, Supporters or Trustees. but the most important part of the award application is the citation. The Awards Advisory Group has many citations to read, so the citation must be strong to catch their attention, after all they do not know the person being nominated.
Top Awards. The Chief Scout’s Platinum Award, Chief Scout’s Diamond Award, and Queen’s Scout Award should form the culmination of everything that you do as a young person in Scouting. To achieve these awards you will need to commit to developing and challenging yourself in many new ways.
