Dec 7, 2022 · One of the biggest highlights of my Greece trip was that I got to hike Mount Olympus. Yes, you read right – the Mount Olympus that is home to the Olympian gods. It’s about 1.5 hours from Thessaloniki in the north of Greece, and a natural stop if you’re heading south to Athens.
Mar 13, 2021 · The fastest way to climb Mount Olympus is by starting your ascent from Prionia, at 1100 meters above sea level, the highest you can get by car. Round trip, this will be a 10 hour strenuous hike, 20 km long, with 2200 meters of elevation gain.
Mt Olympus was made Greece’s first National Park and has been incorporated into the E4 hiking path, allowing us all to enjoy the views from its many peaks and folds, along with some of the 1,700 types of plant and animal found on its slopes.
Feb 5, 2024 · A climb on Mount Olympus can start with the E4 trail from the Prionia parking area to the first mountain refuge, Spilios Agapitos. This initial hike takes about 3 hours and is straightforward, with no technical challenges.
