   Who founded Smithtown?

   • Richard (Bull) Smith (Smythe) is considered the founder of Smithtown. He was the owner of vast lands and was often involved in boundary disputes. One of his most notable disputes was with the town of Huntington over the boundary between it and his own lands. The courts eventually decided in his favor.
