When Steve, a dancer-turned-impresario, returns to his native Hungary after a 20-year absence, he finds many things different. The Communist regime that expelled him is gone, life has changed for the better and his former apparatchik father had retired in disgrace.
Filmed in Ljubljana, Slovenia, Budapest and Montreal, the movie tells the story of two brothers – two dancers – in post-Communist Hungary. One leaves the country to pursue a better life while the other is stuck it out. The former gives his soul to commerce and the latter to the Party.
The film is a Hungarian-Slovenian-Canadian co-production filmed on-location in all three countries. It was one of the six films shortlisted for the Hungarian entry for the Best Foreign Language Oscar at the 85th Academy Awards .
