N was once known as the King of Team Plasma. When he was young, he was abandoned in the woods. He was a strange orphan who grew up alongside Pokemon, namely Darmanitan and Zorua, and was even able to talk to them. N was then discovered by Ghetsis, one of seven sages who created an organization known as Team Plasma. Ghetsis told N that he was his father, but nobody knows is this is true. Ghetsis and the other Sages chose N as the "King of Team Plasma" to rule over everyone and spread their message of "Liberating Pokemon." Of course, unbeknownst to N, this was just a ploy by Ghetsis to steal everyone's Pokemon and rule the world.
Two years ago, N and Team Plasma were setting this plan into action. However, Hilbert, Hilda, Cheren, Bianca, and the Unova Gym Leaders decided to step in and stop them. N soon realized that separating people from Pokemon was wrong, and he decided to disband Team Plasma. Ghetsis, however, had other plans. He continued to try to rule the world, but was thwarted by the others, even after taking over the Pokemon League. After that, Ghetsis went into hiding, and six of the seven sages were captured by International Police.
These days, N travels around Unova still trying to figure out how people and Pokemon should co-exist. Although he's no longer part of Team Plasma, a separate faction of Ex-Team Plasma people still follow him.
N reluctantly released all his Pokemon into the wild. You can find them and capture them yourself. See more info at N's Pokemon. You can also obtain a Zorua in Driftveil City that was once N's.
As for the Pokemon N now carries, he uses one of the Legendary Dragon Pokemon, depending on which version you're playing.

Dec 27, 2012 · In Pokémon Black 2 and White 2, N returns to save Kyurem from Ghetsis riding Zekrom/Reshiram. When his legendary dragon is absorbed by Kyurem to transform to Black Kyurem/White Kyurem, he pleads the player to stop Ghetsis and get it back.
