Morningside is a district and former village in the south of Edinburgh, Scotland. It lies alongside the main arterial Morningside Road, part of an ancient route from Edinburgh to the south west of Scotland.
Morningside was a small village south of Edinburgh which consisted of a few cottages and farms. Originally part of the Burghmuir (a woodland and open ground where hunting took place) which stretched from the Pentland hills to the Meadows which was the Burgh Loch.
Morningside is located in the county of Lanarkshire, Scotland, two miles east of the town of Wishaw, 16 miles south-east of the major city of Glasgow, 29 miles south-west of Edinburgh, 298 miles north of Cardiff, and 332 miles north-west of London.
