Aberdour (/ ˌ æ b ər ˈ d aʊər / ⓘ; Scots: / ˌ eɪ b ər ˈ d u r /, [2] Scottish Gaelic: Obar Dobhair) is a scenic and historic village on the south coast of Fife, Scotland. It is on the north shore of the Firth of Forth , looking south to the island of Inchcolm and its Abbey, and to Leith and Edinburgh beyond.
With two beautiful, award-winning beaches, one of Scotland’s oldest still-standing castles, a golf course, a pier and a good choice of traditional shops and pubs, there’s lots to see and do. Aberdour Castle is fondly described as a ‘splendid ruin’.

Admire views of the Forth from what’s possibly Scotland’s oldest standing castle. Aberdour Castle was once grand enough for a Regent of Scotland.
Although better known for its coastal walks, Aberdour also offers some very fine woodland walking. In particular the area known as The Heughs along the coastal strip towards Burntisland and Humbie Woods at the back of the town are well worth exploring.
Aberdour is situated on the Fife Coastal Tourist Route which has stunning seascapes over the Firth of Forth. Icons of the area are the seals which bask on the rocks below the 1st tee of the golf course.
