Selma is a 2014 historical drama film directed by Ava DuVernay and written by Paul Webb. It is based on the 1965 Selma to Montgomery voting rights marches which were initiated and directed by James Bevel and led by Martin Luther King Jr., Hosea Williams, and John Lewis.
The film opens in 1964 with Dr Martin Luther King Jr accepting his Nobel Peace Prize, which was presented in the Norwegian capital, Oslo, although the scene was filmed in Georgia in the Marietta-Cobb Museum of Art, 30 Atlanta Street SE, in Marietta, northwest of Atlanta.
