Rupi Kaur is a poet, artist, and performer. As a 21-year-old university student Rupi wrote, illustrated and self-published her first poetry collection, milk and honey. Next came its artistic sibling, the sun and her flowers.

Early life and Family. She was born in Punjab, India, on 4 October 1992. Kaur emigrated to Canada with her parents to escape the persecution of Sikhs when she was three years old. Her father had left before, due to hate crimes against Sikh men, and wasn't present when Kaur was born.
