The ‘white heat’ speech. When presenting the policy document ‘Labour and the Scientific Revolution’ at Labour’s annual conference in October 1963, Wilson talked an anti-nostalgic discourse of modernity and change.
In January 1964, Wilson began a speaking tour of the country and his speeches were collected into a volume entitled The New Britain: Labour’s Plan Outlined by Harold Wilson. These continued and developed the themes that Wilson first outlined in his ‘white heat’ speech.
