Playfair comes from a hockey family. Before becoming an actor, Playfair played hockey as a forward for the Merritt Centennials of the BCHL. He is the son of former NHL player Jim Playfair [2] and nephew of Larry Playfair. [1]
Grew up primarily in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada when his father, Jim served as the head coach of the American Hockey League's Saint John Flames.
While growing up, Playfair and his brother played hockey and traveled around the United States and Canada due to their father’s coaching duties. He played junior hockey from 2010 to 2011 with the Merritt Centennials (BCHL).
