Fell Wispwyvern
By Laura May Randell, Robert Harper, Lauren Harper, +8 more
The Fell Wispwyvern is the toughest boss you've encountered by this point in Enshrouded. It breathes devastating ice sprays, summons reinforcements, and leaps around the battlefield with ease. It’s capable of crushing stone (and you) like dry twigs. You’ll encounter it during the Reach the Capital, Pikemead’s Reach quest, which has you slay this monstrosity at its end. This boss guide will prepare you for its attacks and tell you how to defeat it.
Thus far, we’ve only found one Fell Wispwyvern (thank The Flame) in Pikemead’s Reach. It’s guarding the castle in the north part of the city, appearing as soon as you enter the courtyard.
The Fell Wispwyvern has a slew of devastating attacks, and it uses them in quick succession. Keep your eye on it at all times to watch for its telegraphs.
When the Fell Wispwyvern rears its head toward the sky, run! Icy comets will come raining down from above, and at least one will always target where you’re standing. Dodge away quickly and keep running until the storm subsides.
When it uses Ice Blast, the Wyvern rears its head back and then breathes out this devastating blast of cold. It doesn’t move at all, so jump or dodge out of the way quickly.
The Wyvern performs its Pounce move quickly and without warning, so always be ready to roll away when you see it leaping through the air. It deals significant damage to everything in a small radius around where it lands.
If you get too close to the Wyvern, it’ll leap up and rapidly spin in a complete circle. If you get caught by this attack, you’ll be stunned for a few seconds.
When the Wispwyvern begins sucking in energy, it glows brightly, and Ice Beetles pop up out of the ground to protect it. This is also when it’s most vulnerable. A single arrow in its mouth will stun it.
The Fell Wispwyvern might seem nigh impenetrable at first. It’s resistant to everything and can output incredible damage. When you aren’t dodging its many attacks, you’ll be too busy swatting beetles out of your way to get in an attack of your own.
The Fell Wispwyvern has one critical weakness you can exploit: when it uses its Icy Roar, you can shoot it in the mouth to stun it. While stunned, it falls to the ground and loses its resistance. It becomes vulnerable to damage for about ten seconds, during which time you should hit it with everything you’ve got.
When it isn’t using its Icy Roar, focus on avoiding damage and taking out beetles. The terrain isn’t much help here, and the pillars can come down on you to deal additional damage. Stay out in the open with plenty of room to maneuver and take every opportunity to interrupt the Icy Roar.
If you still have trouble taking down the Wyvern, try experimenting with food bonuses and potions. You might also want to improve your gear or level up more. This is a tough fight, so don’t be discouraged if you don’t get it on your first try.
