Mar 26, 2012 · There is a very useful free online database called the Crew List Index Project (CLIP) which was set up to improve access to the records of British merchant seafarers of the late 19th century and has gathered the largest database providing details of the locations of surviving crew lists.
All the surviving crew documents for years ending in 5 are held at either the National Maritime Museum (NMM) or The National Archives (TNA) and the project covered all of those for 1915 so, in theory, all merchant seafarers should appear.
