    William S. Burroughs was born in 1914 in St. Louis, Missouri. He attended private schools in St. Louis before a brief stint at the Los Alamos Ranch School in New Mexico. He received a bachelor's degree from Harvard in 1936. After graduating from Harvard, Burroughs spent a few years traveling through Europe, followed by a short stint in the US Army....
