  6. Jul 16, 2024 · Access to Higher Education (HE) courses are nationally recognised programmes of study designed to support adults (aged 19+) who have few qualifications or are changing career and don’t have the relevant entry criteria, but who are aspiring to study at university.

  7. In addition, academic study skills are embedded within Access courses to help you with the transition to higher level study. To progress to nursing and midwifery from our health course, you need 5 or 6 GCSEs (including English, maths, and a science) before your Access course. We have a full-time adult GCSE course to help you.

  8. Courses normally start in mid-September and end in mid-June. Taught hours vary between 11 - 16 hours per week depending on the pathway chosen. Courses usually run over 3 days and offer parent friendly hours (i.e. 9.15am to 4.15pm).
