Slavia was founded on 2 November 1892 by medicine students in Vinohrady, Prague, as a sport club aimed at increasing sport activity among students. Initially the club focused on cycling, and expanded to football in 1896.
The tradition of Slavia Prague, one of the oldest sports club on the European continent, goes back to the 19th century. It was founded as a soccer club in 1892 mainly on the initiative of Czech students.

The founders of our club in 1893 – the University Cycling Club Slavia. This is the first time we can see the Slavia flag, the first memorabilia of our club. The star points to the top in the picture but points to the bottom when turned by 90 degrees (such as on the pole).
