8 December 1987. (1987-12-08) Rockschool is a television series aired by the BBC and PBS on 1 November 1983. The series explored the history of rock music and gave instruction in popular performance techniques.
The first series was broadcast in the autumn of 2005 and took place at Christ's Hospital, a co-educational boarding school near Horsham, West Sussex, which is famous for its strong musical tradition. The chosen class of year 9 students were all classically trained and it was insinuated that they had no interest in rock music.

Rockschool (which was broadcast on BBC2 with repeat showings on BBC1) was designed to help aspiring rock musicians with hints and tips about performing in a band. The series wasn’t for beginners, and it was taken for granted that anyone watching would already know the basics but want to move things forward.
