Philander Smith University (previously Philander Smith College) is a private historically black college in Little Rock, Arkansas. It is affiliated with the United Methodist Church and is a founding member of the United Negro College Fund (UNCF).

Named for bureau activist John Walden (1831–1914) and located in the Wesley Chapel Methodist Church at 8 th Street and Broadway, the seminary was designed to educate Black ministers.
