On April 27, 2024, IBPA announced changes to its award program starting with the 37th IBPA Book Awards in 2025. You can read more here. Further details will be coming soon when the next IBPA Book Award cycle begins in July.
The criteria will be announced when the 37th IBPA Book Award call for entries opens in July 2024. The addition of this suite of categories to the IBPA Book Awards is expressly to amplify authentic voices and underrepresented communities.
Jul 1, 2024 · Usually, books published between January 2024 and September 2024 are entered in the first entry period and books published between October 2024 and December 2024 are entered in the second entry period. As long as the books have a copyright date of 2024, however, they can be entered any time prior to the final December 16, 2024 deadline.
Apr 27, 2024 · When will the name change be effective? The 36th annual award recipients announced in April 2024 will mark the final year of the awards under its current name. The 37th awards will launch as the IBPA Book Award. The IBPA Book Award will add new award categories: plus, a special lifetime award.
Jun 30, 2022 · Enter anytime under two deadlines: September 30 (mostly for books published Jan-Sept 2022) and December 15 (mostly for books published Oct-Dec 2022). The awards are unique in that entrants receive constructive feedback on their submissions, with the actual judging forms returned to all publishers.
