The Cure are an English rock band formed in 1976 in Crawley, West Sussex. [1][2][3] Throughout numerous lineup changes since the band's formation, guitarist, lead vocalist, and songwriter Robert Smith has remained the only constant member, though bassist Simon Gallup has been present for all but about three years of the band's history.
The English rock band the Cure has released fourteen studio albums, six live albums, two remix albums, seven compilation albums, eight box sets, twelve extended plays, and forty-seven singles on Fiction Records and Geffen Records.
The Cure. It all started in 1976 as Easy Cure, formed by Robert Smith (vocals, guitar) along with schoolmates Michael Dempsey (bass), Lol Tolhurst (drums) and local guitar hero Porl Thompson. They began writing and demoing their own songs almost immediately, playing throughout 1977 in Southern England to an ever growing army of fans.

The Cure is the twelfth studio album by English rock band of the same name, released on 25 June 2004 by Geffen Records. The album was entirely co-produced by American producer Ross Robinson and spawned the single "The End of the World".
Michael Dempsey played with The Cure for the last time at Hammersmith Odeon on October 15, 1979, the final date of an extraordinary tour supporting Siouxsie & The Banshees on which Robert Smith played with both bands, following the exit of the headliners’ guitarist John McKay.
