Dec 9, 1977 · In 1975 they dropped the “keystone” to become The Angels and had released their first single “Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again” in April 1976. At that time they were performing as a 4 piece band with Doc Neeson handling vocals and bass, Charlie King on drums and John & Rick Brewster on guitars.

The Angels are an Australian rock band that formed in 1974 in Adelaide as the Keystone Angels with Bernard "Doc" Neeson on lead vocals and bass guitar, John Brewster on rhythm guitar and backing vocals, his brother Rick Brewster on lead guitar and backing vocals, and Peter "Charlie" King on drums.
Jun 28, 2024 · The Angels were born out of a band called The Moonshine Jug And String Band, which John and Rick Brewster started in Adelaide in 1970. The following year, they played at Myponga, one of Australia’s first music festivals, alongside Black Sabbath, Daddy Cool and Fraternity.
Their eclectic music is rooted in a mix of 1920s blues and jazz replete with Washboard, Washtub Bass, Banjo, Harmonica and Kazoos. Doc Neeson an Irish immigrant joined the Moonshine Jug and String Band as “Doc Talbot” in January 1971.
