Oct 23, 2024 · In 1990, after Universal's 75th anniversary, the company became MCA/Universal Home Video. The company had absorbed SGE Home Video in 1991, to pick up the distribution rights to Shapiro/Glickenhaus titles.
In 1990, MCA Home Video was renamed into MCA/Universal Home Video, to capitalize on the Universal name and to coincide with Universal's 75th anniversary. The company absorbed the assets of SGE Home Video in 1991 in order to release titles from Shapiro Glickenhaus Entertainment there.
3 days ago · On December 9, 1996, MCA/Universal Home Video renamed itself as "Universal Studios Home Video" when MCA was reincorporated as Universal Studios. It began to distribute titles from third-party companies, like Lionsgate Films, October Films, DreamWorks Pictures and The Kushner-Locke Company.
In late 1983, both the Laserdisc sister label MCA Videodisc and the VHS/Beta label MCA Videocassette were consolidated into a single entity, MCA Home Video, alternating with the MCA Videocassette name until December 1983.
In 1990, MCA Home Video renamed itself as "MCA/Universal Home Video " to capitalize the Universal Studios name and to coincide with Universal's 75th Anniversary, alternating with the "MCA Home Video" name in 1992 or 1995.
