   Showcase canceled the show after season 7. Netflix purchased the show and made seasons 8-12. Combination of netflix taking over and running out of ideas would be my guess. I dont enjoy the netflix seasons at all and rarely watch them. The original creator/director Mike Clattenburg left the show after season 7.
