The Next Men officially debuted in a four–part storyline in Dark Horse Presents #54–57 (Sept.–Dec. 1991), later reprinted, in color, as John Byrne's Next Men #0 (Feb. 1992). The series ran until issue #30 (Dec. 1994) [ 2 ] and ended with a cliffhanger.
To all intents and purposes the two 2011 collections of Next Men concluded matters, completing a story begun in 1992 and put on hold by creator John Byrne two years later. Volume two related a desperate, but successful plan to fix the tampering with time, and gave the Next Men some peace.
