Hahn (1878-1937), a German immigrant, formed the Hahn Wagon & Carriage Works in 1898, and moved to Hamburg in 1901. The Hahn Wagon and Carriage Works was founded in 1898. The Hahn brothers started experimenting with motor trucks and in 1907 changed the name of the company to the Hahn Motor Truck and Wagon Company. In 1920 the name was changed again to Hahn Motor Trucks. By the 1920s, Hahn was building some fire apparatus regularly along with commercial trucks.
Aug 1, 2023 · Among all of that, Hahn was apparently off to a somewhat shaky start with self-propelled vehicles, as illustrated in 1913 by its choice of a new name — Hahn Motor Truck & Wagon Co. The new name implies it still wasn’t completely certain that trucks would win in the end. They did, though, and the business became Hahn Motor Truck Co. in 1920.
