History and description. Deutsche Bank Park, previously known as Commerzbank-Arena, got built in the place of the old Waldstadion. The last match at the entire Waldstadion was played in 2002, after which the old stadium got gradually demolished while the new stadium was built in its place.
Since 1 July 2020, the Frankfurt arena has been known as Deutsche Bank Park – a name which harks back to its origins. The idea of turning what used to be a military shooting range by the Oberforsthaus into a sports park first came about around a century ago.
When built in 1925 it had numerous functions, not only the sporting ones (football pitch and athletics track were both in place). During nazi governing it was a place of political events. The ground hosted biggest tournaments in Europe (Euro 1988) and the World (1974 and 2006 World Cup s).

Apr 1, 2020 · Deutsche Bank, an existing partner of Eintracht, has agreed a seven-year contract, with an option to extend, that will run through to at least June 30, 2027. Under the deal, the stadium will be renamed Deutsche Bank Park from its current moniker of Commerzbank-Arena in the summer.
Since 1 July 2020, the Frankfurt Arena will be called Deutsche Bank Park – and thus reminds us of its origins in its name. About 100 years ago, the idea arose to build a sports park near Oberforsthaus on the site of a former military shooting range.
