  4. Jul 14, 2022 · He grew up in Mountain Lakes, NJ. and graduated in the Bates class of 1966. He then went to Harvard Divinity School. Before finishing he went to live in a parish in East Harlem and taught at a public middle school in Morrisania in the Bronx. He then went to Tufts for his Masters degree and his PhD.
