    • Averill Farm. 250 Calhoun St., Washington Depot. This 10th-generation farm has been around since 1746. Averill Farm is open seasonally, from Aug. 15 to Dec.
    • Beardsley's Cider Mill & Orchard. 278 Leavenworth Rd, Shelton. In operation since 1849, Beardsley started out as a dairy farm until "a school bus lost its brakes and crashed into the barn in 1973, burning it to the ground," the website recounts.
    • Belltown Hill Orchards. 483 Matson Hill Rd., South Glastonbury. Founded in 1904 by the Preli family, Belltown Hill Orchards remains family owned. 2023 season: Apple picking began in mid-August and is available into late November, depending on the type of apple.
    • Bishop's Orchards Farm Market & Cidery. 1355 Boston Post Rd., Guilford. This orchard, open since 1871, is also home to a farm market and winery. Apples, pears and raspberries are available for picking between late August and late October this year.

  7. We are a family-size orchard in New Hartford (in the Litchfield Hills of northwest CT). We grow 25 varieties of apples. Some are heritage, nearly a century old, and some are new. Recently we have added blueberries and some baby pear trees.
