Feb 14, 2023 · During winter in Fernie, you simply must enjoy the short hike up to Fairy Creek Falls. This gorgeous waterfall sits frozen in time and is the perfect place to visit on a beautiful winter day. The trail begins from the Fernie Visitor Center and it takes around 1.5 hours to hike the 4.5-kilometer out and back trail.

Feb 14, 2023 · Unlike the ski resorts to the north, Fernie boasts an average winter temperature of -5 °C (23 °F) making it an attractive place to ski in December (places like Banff in December and Jasper in December are much colder). On top of that, Fernie gets up to 9 meters (30 feet) of snowfall per year.
- Hit the slopes at the Fernie Alpine Resort. Fernie is a destination that truly shines in the winter and if you’re here when there’s snow on the ground, the Fernie Alpine Resort should be your first stop!
- Have a beer at Fernie Brewing Company. I can’t resist a great craft beer and Fernie has a fantastic local brewery. I’ve actually been a fan of Fernie Brewing Co for a while – long before I visited in person.
- Visit Mount Fernie Provincial Park. Not far from Fernie (about 5 minutes from town) is Mount Fernie Provincial Park. If you’re looking for a scenic spot to hike or camp, this is one of my favorites.
- Go white water rafting. For one of the adventurous activities in BC, take in the views from the water and get your adrenaline rush in with a rafting trip!
