- Walk Around Downtown Fernie. Downtown Fernie is absolutely beautiful with mountain vistas at the end of every road. The downtown center also includes many buildings that are more than a century old which is very old for North American buildings.
- Hike Fairy Creek Falls. One of the easy hikes in Fernie that you should do is the hike out to Fairy Creek Falls. It’s a gentle walk through the forest with minimal elevation gain and about a 5 km round trip (3.1 miles).
- Go Hiking in Fernie to Mt Fernie. The Mount Fernie trail takes you to the summit of Mt Fernie which looks down on the town. If you have the time it’s well worth climbing to the summit to enjoy the views.
- Hike the Heiko / Three Sisters trail in Fernie. If you have a 4×4 definitely look into doing the Heiko to Three Sisters summit trail in Fernie. The road to the trailhead can be tricky to navigate and the hike itself is strenuous but along the way, you’ll pass an impressive waterfall, a Bisaro Cave (Canada’s deepest cave), and incredible views.
- Stroll around the Historic Downtown. One of the best things to do in Fernie is stroll around the downtown area. Fernie’s downtown has many old buildings that are more than a century old.

- Have a beer at Fernie Brewing Company. I can’t resist a great craft beer and Fernie has a fantastic local brewery. I’ve actually been a fan of Fernie Brewing Co for a while – long before I visited in person.
- Visit Mount Fernie Provincial Park. Not far from Fernie (about 5 minutes from town) is Mount Fernie Provincial Park. If you’re looking for a scenic spot to hike or camp, this is one of my favorites.
- Go white water rafting. For one of the adventurous activities in BC, take in the views from the water and get your adrenaline rush in with a rafting trip!
