Its 9 anthological short films made by 8 different animation teams centered around robots and their interaction with humans. The animation though maybe a bit dated is very creative and still holds up. The OST was amazing too. Presence was my favorite one, it was lucid, shares the same themes about life and AI GitS and Blade Runner explores.
While simply a series of short films, Robot Carnival really is artisic creativity unbound. Each story in and of itself is an exploration into the various aspects of artifical life forms and various implications thereof.

Aug 12, 2021 · An underappreciated anime masterpiece that every anime fan should watch at least once, Robot Carnival perfectly illustrates why the 1980s was considered the golden age of anime. It also shows how creative directors and animators can take a concept in so many unique directions when given the freedom to do so.
