  1. Mauler (and almost everyone when they are honest) believes that movies can be judged both objectively and subjectively. Objective review fosters conversation because it can be debated and everyone is relying upon the same evidence when acting in good faith.

  2. Mauler does not watch enough of a variety of movies for me to use him as a metric. I can only hear about how good Aliens or Terminator are so many times. Drinker clearly has a general type of movie he likes and, while most of his recommendations aren't bad, his videos rarely make a good case for why a film is good and why i should see it.

  3. Mauler acknowledges visual mediums, but refuses to value them separately from what exactly they are showing. Yes, you can pull out of hat any theme you like, it's script-writer job for them to make sense story-wise. And why exactly should he have a good attitude towards people that lie about him and about the topic of discussion? Eric Taxxon?

Callum Edmunds (born: October 6, 1993 (1993-10-06) [age 30]), better known online as MauLer, is a Welsh YouTuber known for making long form video essays.

MauLer, also known as "The Long Man" is a YouTuber whose videos mainly deal with criticism of film, television and video games.

He makes long review videos intricately dissecting bad films and television and for arguing that art can be judged objectively, often drawing distinction between the objective qualities of a work and one's subjective enjoyment of a work in his reviews. His most popular videos include his several hour long video game reviews, his three hour review of The Last Jedi, and his reviews of episodes four through six/the finale of Game of Thrones Season 8.

•Some of his nicknames are The Long Man, Longoloid, Long Person, Welshman, Twisted Shell of Man, Skull on Wheels, Gas Mask, The Watermelon Guy (by Armoured Skeptic) He who shall not be named (by iamthatroby) and Just Wrong.

•MauLer himself has embraced the name Long Man to the point where whenever he guest stars on other podcasts his name will read as MauLer (Longman).

•He is the host of the Every Frame A Pause podcast.

•MauLer has a substantial right-wing fandom, but he personally identifies as apolitical and sees the contents of his videos the same way.

•MauLer has also got into a feud with the right wing video game YouTuber, Synthetic Man when the latter disliked the 2022 video game, God of War Ragnarök.

•Fans of his channel have a rivalry with fans of The Cosmonaut Variety Hour, particularly due to Marcus and MauLer's differing opinions on franchises such as the Star Wars prequel and sequel trilogies. Not helping matters is that MauLer and Marcus have frequently gotten into very hostile arguments online.

  4. At best this simply means he has bad opinions on an eclectic range of subjects, whilst still also being a sexist. The final complaint is about his fans. If you criticise Mauler then a fan will miraculously appear, often imploring you to watch his opinions in full.

At first impressions, Mauler's videos are decently edited, and he speaks through his points clearly and precisely. Beyond that, the main thing anyone notices about Mauler's critiques is that they are extremely long, sometimes far in excess of the movies themselves. Longform criticism is fine as long as it justifies taking up so much of your time.
