Do you want to know if Saw X has a post-credits scene? We'll tell you right here: There is one mid-credits scene in the movie and no after-the-credits scene. Quotes from the producers courtesy of an interview at Fantastic Fest.
Full spoilers follow from here!
Saw X is a prequel that tells a story from the early life of Jigsaw/John Kramer (Tobin Bell). Bell is back after not being a part of the previous film, and director Kevin Greutert returns as well, having previously helmed Saw VI and Saw 3D (and edited several films in the series as well). We're digging into the film's ending and its post-credits scene here, so once again spoilers follow...
In the climax of Saw X, Tobin Bell’s Jigsaw mastermind John Kramer seems backed into the corner of his own game. Cecilia Pederson (Synnøve Macody Lund), the evil con artist fleecing terminally ill people out of hundreds of thousands of dollars with the hope of an experimental life-saving treatment, has flipped the odds on her chained-at-the-neck imprisonment by calling her accomplice and lover Parker Sears (Steven Brand) with the cell phone Amanda Young (Shawnee Smith) left behind (on purpose) on the killing room floor. Forced at gunpoint to switch places with Cecilia, John locks himself into his “bloodboarding” seesaw opposite the neighborhood boy, Carlos, who happened to be at the warehouse for his ritualistic soccer practice. Cecilia, who then delivers the most infuriatingly condescending monologue of the whole franchise, and her boy toy think they’ve won.
“We wanted to make her a foil [to Jigsaw],” producer Oren Koules told IGN about the Cecilia character after Saw X’s premiere at Fantastic Fest in Austin, Texas. “[There’s] never really been a one-on-one or an equal footing, and so we thought it would be fun to have him be against someone who's a real opponent.”

Cecilia is an impressively awful villain, a deceitful mastermind in her own right operating on a demonic spectrum of morality. She bullies her locally hired associates to play their respective games — cutting off their own leg, extracting a piece of brain — in order to escape. When John and Amanda implore her to get Gabriela (Renata Vaca), an opioid addict who endured extreme radiation levels and broke her own ankles and wrists (a franchise favorite!) to win her game, to a hospital, Parker snaps Gabriela’s neck.
But for as smart as Cecilia thinks she is, John is still several steps ahead of her, having anticipated the switcheroo. (Although Carlos was a “terrible unforeseen consequence” — it should have been Amanda on the other end of the surgery table.) He’s been playing the long game since Day 1. In flashbacks, the prior seven films built out the twists of his big plans after his death in Saw III, coming full circle at the end of Saw 3D where it’s revealed that Lawrence Gordon (Cary Elwes), the doctor who diagnosed John with brain cancer and amputated his own foot to escape in the first Saw, has been an accomplice in Jigsaw’s grand scheme.
That’s not the end of John’s payback — or the twists, however. In the mid-credits scene, Henry, the cancer group survivor who lured John into Cecilia’s con, is strung up in a familiar-looking tiled bathroom with a familiar face at his side. That man is Detective Mark Hoffman, who’s been the nameless “detective” John calls several times in Saw X for information about the people involved in the treatment scheme.
Franchise fans will remember him as John’s inside man and another of his early accomplices, as revealed in Saw IV, after setting up his own copycat Jigsaw murder to avenge his sister’s death and then getting scolded by John for not understanding the spirit of the game – that everyone gets a second chance. He carries out John’s plans post-mortem in Saw V, VI, and 3D until he kills John’s wife, Jill Tuck (who also tried to kill Hoffman in Saw VI).
Gordon and a crew jump Hoffman, who gets locked in the same windowless bathroom where Gordon’s now-rotted foot lives with no means of escape.

In our Saw X review, IGN's Amelia Emberwing said: "Almost 20 years into the franchise, Saw X showcases an emotional depth that manages to take one of these stories higher than ever before. Make no mistake, though, the traps are still on full display and Jigsaw still has full intent to showcase the true evils of humanity. And to give them the chance to save themselves (if they’re good enough), of course." She gave the tenth Saw movie a 7 out of 10.
Over on Rotten Tomatoes, the film has (at the time of this writing) an 82% fresh Tomatometer score. On Metacritic, Saw X has a less positive score of 60, which the site ranks as "Mixed or Average."
