I've always kind of enjoyed the trash talk and bind spam in FPS games (that is referred to as 'toxic' now), but the lenny face thing is seriously dumb. It's not remotely clever, ironic, or sarcastic. It adds no context to anything that's happening.

I'm pretty sure that it was originally being used for accidental sexual puns. In which you would follow up with the "Lenny Face." Or just sexual puns in general. Then somehow it became something that people just started spamming in TF2. At first it was pretty funny. But now it has just become something that you roll your eyes at.
