Halopedia, originally known simply as "Halo Wiki", began on November 4, 2004 as a project of user AgentSeethroo, with the help of Porplemontage. In 2006, Wikia, Inc. was created from the minds of Angela Beesley and Jimmy Wales, the creator of the free online, open-source encyclopedia, Wikipedia.
I prefer and get most of my info from Halopedia. However, Halo.Wikia is usually what gets hit first on Google searches. When comparing the two, I find Halopedia to have more information in the searches I've made.
