Yes, level.dat and level.dat_old do that stuff. I'm talking specifically about those random numbers files, which were not there yesterday and seem to have appeared out of nowhere. *Also, the wiki says nothing about them, just about the regula ones.
level.dat_old is a backup copy of the level.dat file and can sometimes be used to recover the world state when things go wrong. session.lock is a control file to help manage write access to the world.
