If you're a fic-writer, what is it about your fic(s) that makes you classify them as 'darkfics'? Right now, I'd personally define darkfic as, at their core, the kind of stories that need to be front-loaded with warnings.
What is “dark”? What makes a dark fic? In the fanfic subreddit, I offered to read dark, one shot fanfics fandom blind. I was sent about 20 awesome fics, I enjoyed reading every one of them, but I'd say only maybe 5 of them were what I would consider ”dark”. Maybe I'm jaded 😂.

Jan 24, 2021 · Dark fiction is fiction that contains dark elements. It deals with pain and death. Sometimes it elicits fear. Other times, it evokes despair. Dark fiction takes an unflinching look at the things that make us uncomfortable and doesn’t sugarcoat them.
From experience, it seems people hold very different views of what a "dark fic." is? How do we define it? Personally, I always held the beliefs that morally gray--too--dark themes fit the bill. Yet some people seem to act as if morale isn't of the question, but rather rape/torture/and gore is enough to fit the bill.
Sep 5, 2024 · There exists a Dark Fic, aptly (ironically?) named "Twilight on London," that manages to turn much of the Disney/DonBluth Mouseworld on its head and rework it into a Godfather-like tale taking place in 1800s London, replete with sex, beatings, murders, and all-around Canon/character-breakage.
