    Put Your Thinking Cap On

    If you pause the game, you'll see a small icon with a pair of goggles on it next to the menu options. Click that and go into the Ponder Index, where you'll find visual tutorials on how to build most of Create's basic machines. The Ponder Index also introduces you to the materials you'll need most in your Create journey, like Andesite, Copper, Zinc, Gold, and Brass. In game, you can also hover on Create machines and components, then press W to ponder and find out how they work. The Ponder Inde...

    A Clean Shop Is A Happy Shop

    Before you go about building the grand factory or huge castle of your dreams, you should probably clear some space on your map. There's no wrong place to start building in the Create mod, but it doesn't hurt to take the time to figure out where to start. Clear a whole section of forest, find the perfect seed, or go deep underground. It's all up to you. Wherever your workshop is, remember to make a note of where all those important materials are. You'd hate to lose track of your experiments.

    Time To Stockpile

    Create, like most mods, introduces some of its own base materials — Andesite alloy, Zinc, Brass, and Rose Quartz. It also introduces new variants on common ores — crushed, nuggets, and sheets — that you'll use in your creations. Zinc can be found among the normal ores, while Andesite alloy, Brass, and Rose Quartz are made from materials you'll find anywhere in the Minecraft world. There's more, but these are the basics for what you'll need to get started with your Create adventures. Get to mi...

    No More Punching Trees

    We've all spent way too long chopping down a tree in vanilla Minecraft. Once all the wood is finally collected, you then have to deal with the mess of leaves. Sure, they disappear on their own, but until then, you have a mess of floating leaves. With the Mechanical Saw, you can chop down a tree instantly. Simply place the sawblade facing the bottom block of wood, and then use a Hand Crank to generate some rotational force, causing the blade to activate and chop down the tree. Blocks will then...

    A Sticky Solution

    Glue is the key to many of your wildest ideas and contraptions. It's a simple tool that lets you stick two or more objects together, but the possibilities grow from there. This is the key to making large, complex factories or even moving castles. The glue tool has been modified a bit from the super glue tool of earlier Create updates. Now, instead of using a glue cube or flat plane, you simply right-click on two objects, sticking them together at a fixed point.

    The Gears Are Turning

    Cogwheels are a cornerstone of Create. Most early-game machines need them, and you will never have enough. Cogwheels are necessary for both creating and powering machines. You can make small ones in stacks of eight, and big ones in stacks of two, using wood and Andesite alloy. They also make for a great decoration if you're trying to achieve a steampunk look or anengineer's lab. Always make sure you have a few on hand, as well as some gearboxes, because you're going to be doing some wild thin...

    A Pressing Matter

    The first thing you'll want to build, once you have your materials ready, is a Mechanical Press. It's a fairly simple machine that can be powered by a Water Wheel and will press ingots into sheets. Get yourself some gold sheets, then make your next two most important tools — the goggles and wrench. Below, you can see what's needed to make a Mechanical Press. 1. 1x Shaft 2. 1x Andesite Casing 3. 1x Block of Iron The goggles let you see how fast an energy source is moving, and the wrench will h...

    E=MC²

    As we know, the Create mod lets you generate energy (power), but it's important to know all the sources available. Energy is used to turn Cogwheels and power machines; you can check out the main energy sources below. 1. Manual (turning a crank by hand) 2. Water 3. Wind 4. Steam A Water Wheel may be your first source of energy, but it's slow and will really only be good for early machines. Once you move on, you'll want to look into some of the faster energy sources, which will be able to keep...

    They Yearn For The Mines

    With the Create mod, you will no longer have to manually mine! An auto-miner will propel itself forward and mine through blocks that stand in the way. With chests attached to the contraption, it will automatically collect any gathered blocks and store them for you. The simplest way to make an auto-miner involves a pre-determined railway that a contraption sits on. As it moves on the rails, areas that your drills touch will be mined out. You can check out a tutorial for a mining machine like t...
