- Quests serve as the engine in a story, propelling characters forward and urging viewers or readers to follow along with bated breath. They introduce a central objective that characters must work toward, providing a framework for the narrative. In the world of film, a quest can be the backbone on which the entire plot hangs.

Story Quests are Quests revolving around Playable Characters and their interactions with the Traveler. Character Story Quest Chapters are named after the character's constellation, while Hangout Events are the character name.
Most Story Quests give the player the opportunity to trial the featured character for a brief period. This includes cases where said character may be in the player's active party, in which case they will be temporarily replaced with a trial version.
A few character Story Quests are required in order to progress further into the Archon Quest series. Other character Story Quests are required to access some Weekly Bosses.
Some Story Quests are part of Events, and may require specific character Story Quests and/or Archon Quests in order to progress. Since Version 3.2 however, these event Story Quests no longer require character Story Quests, however the game recommends players complete said quests first for the best experience and avoiding in-game spoilers.
All Story Quests have requirements that the player has to meet to unlock the quest. These requirements may differ between each act of the story chapter. Requirements include:
•Reaching the required Adventure Rank.
•Completing prior quests in the chapter.
•Completing Archon Quest acts.
•Completing other Characters' Story Quests.
•Using the required number of Story Keys.
Story Keys are quest unlock items that players after Adventure Rank 26 can claim every 8 Commissions completed (i.e., 2 days of 4 Commissions). Story Keys will not be earned automatically and must be claimed from the Story Quests menu once eligible. A total of 3 Story Keys can be held at one time, but the counter will still continue to max out at 8, so one is able to immediately be claimed after one has been spent.
•Story Quest Acts available before Adventure Rank 32 do not require Story Keys.
•Story Quest Acts available after Adventure Rank 32 require 1 Story Key.
•Hangout Event Acts require 2 Story Keys and repeating the same Hangout will not require more.
