A Series of Unfortunate Events (not to be confused with Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events (video game)) is a puzzle game for Windows, published by Big Fish Games.

The game is copyright 2004 Paramount Pictures and Dreamworks, like the film from the same year. However, the story, style, and imagery all appear to be based on the books, particularly The Bad Beginning. The cast of villains in the game largely reflect the ones mentioned in The Bad Beginning (including the existence of "the important-looking man with warts").

A Series of Unfortunate Events is here and it's your job to halt Count Olaf's trail-of-terror. Stop Count Olaf's unmentionable HORRORS with fire, snake bites, leeches, and other wieldy machinations in this fascinating game of logic and deductive reasoning. Too awful of a game? Too scary and dark? Too spine-tingling a premise? Well, then, go play something cheerier.

You've been warned! Do NOT download this game if you can't stand up to Evil!

•Stop Count Olaf in his tracks.

    •Full of spine-tingling terror.

The player is presented with a grid of rooms in Count Olaf's house. Each room must contain a picture representing a certain character or object, which the player must set correctly in order to clear the stage. To narrow the possibilities, the game presents a number of constraints which must be satisfied, regarding the relative placement and distance of the images. When the correct image has been placed in a room, the game will lock it in place.

The game consists of two game modes: Deduction Junction and Swap Monster ("For Younger Players"). The games are very similar in overall gameplay, only differing in how the images are placed. (See the modes' dedicated sections below.)

There are three difficulties: Training Wheels, Rather Difficult, and Pure Evil.

There are 10 levels of increasing size, which can be played individually or via "Journey", which takes the player through each board in sequence. Each level consists of four puzzles.

•Unlike the books and all other adaptations of them, there is only one "white-faced lady".
