PROBUS is a local, national, and international association of retired people who come together in non-political, non-sectarian, non-profit, autonomous clubs which provide regular opportunities for members to meet others in similar circumstances, with similar levels of interest, make new friends, and maintain and expand their interests.

What is Probus? In 1965, a group of Rotarians, wishing to continue in fellowship after largely retiring from work, met in The Campus, Welwyn Garden City’s central square, and founded The Campus Club. The idea was taken up a year later in Caterham but a more generic name was used – Probus.
The Probus Club movement was formed in the United Kingdom in 1965. The Probus movement had its beginnings in two clubs, both created by members of Rotary. It is widely acknowledged that Probus had its foundation in Welwyn Garden City 50 years ago.
