Sep 18, 2019 · What are Cub Scouts? The Cub Pack is the second section of the Scout Group following on from Beavers. Cub Scouts are young people aged between 8 and 10 ½. Like Beavers, there is some flexibility in the age range: young people can join from age 7½ and can move to Scouts between age 10 and 11.
Each Pack is made up of young people aged 8 to 10, led by an adult Cub leader traditionally nicknamed Akela after the wise leader of the wolf pack in Rudyard Kipling’s novel, The Jungle Book.
It is usual for a Cub Scout pack to divide the Cubs into smaller peer groups, called Sixes (for the ideal number of Cubs in each group) and are led by a Sixer who is chosen from each six to lead the group. [3]
Cubs or Wolf Cubs are programs associated with some Scout organizations, for young children usually between 8 and 12 who are too young to be Scouts. A participant in the program is called a Cub. A group of Cubs is called a "Pack".
