May 31, 2021 · Pop open the WEB ARCHIVE GZ download option from the left side of the page. Scroll down until you see nfwritersontheirwayup.bcqkJvN.warc.gz and proceed to download. To unpack this gzip you can use the gzip -d nfwritersontheirwayup.bcqkJvN.warc.gz command on Unix systems or good old 7-zip on Windows.
As of 2019-10-16 the directory lists 5619351 groups. 2752112 of them have been discovered. 1483853 (54%) have public message archives with an estimated number of 2.1 billion messages (1389 messages per group on average so far). 1.8 billion messages (86%) have been archived as of 2018-10-28.

I found yahoo-group-archiver easy to set up and use, and have downloaded a few groups that I care about. The tool creates a file hierarchy with subdirectories for files, members, photos, etc, each with a bunch of content files and json files.

The Groups were deliberately killed by Yahoo about a decade ago. All sorts of functions failed, and yahoo couldn't seem to make them work. Oddly enough, when Verizon made the announcement of the data purge - everything suddenly started working perfectly again so listowners could get their data archived. Still angry over this one.
