Willesley Park Golf Club has been on its present site since 1920 when the land was leased from Major Ashworth, who had previously bought the Willesley Estate including Willesley Hall. The golf course, smaller than it is now, was designed and laid out by James Braid, one of the famous triumvirate of Braid, Taylor and Vardon.
The rich and varied broadleaf woodland of Willesley Wood is an ideal place to spot a wide range of native tree species, including the locally declining black poplar which grows well in boggy ground, such as Willesley Wood’s areas of wet woodland.
If you play golf regularly you will enjoy the challenges around this course, there's no water or ditches but the ability to hit a ball accurately is required to keep on the fairway and onto small greens. There are a few untidy looking places on the edges which catch the eye,but don't effect the golf.
