Vladimir Samoylovich Horowitz [n 1] (October 1 [O.S. September 18] 1903 – November 5, 1989) was a Russian [1] [2] [3] and American pianist. Considered one of the greatest pianists of all time, [ 4 ] [ 5 ] [ 6 ] he was known for his virtuoso technique, timbre , and the public excitement engendered by his playing.

Vladimir Horowitz was a Russian-born American pianist and composer. He was a child prodigy, making his first public appearance at the age of six. He studied at the Moscow Conservatory with Alexander Goldenweiser and Sergei Rachmaninoff. In 1925, he immigrated to the United States. Horowitz became an American citizen in 1944.
