Topeka High School has inner courtyards that were built to aid ventilation, with one each being present in the school's east and west wings, Barker said. Almost all rooms have windows at the school, which didn't get air conditioning until 2000, she said.
The greenhouse is the only part of Topeka High School built after the school was originally constructed, Barker said. It was built in the late 1970s, according to Capital-Journal archives.
