Jun 27, 2024 · PageRank (PR) is a Google algorithm that ranks web pages in search results by evaluating the number and quality of links to a page. It operates on the principle that pages receiving more high-quality links are deemed more important and are thus ranked higher.
The PageRank score of a page can be viewed as the rate at which a surfer would visit that page, if it surfed the Web indefinitely, blindly jump-ing from page to page. Our algorithm does something closer to what a human surfer would do, jumping preferentially to pages containing the query terms.
